Rev 20:9 They went up over the breadth of the earth, and surrounded the camp of the saints, and the beloved city. Fire came down out of heaven from God, and devoured them. (consume, devour katesthiō G 2719)
Rev 11:5 And if anyone wants to harm them, fire comes out of their mouth and devours their enemies. If anyone wants to harm them, he must be killed in this way.
Deu 4:24 For Jehovah your God is a consuming fire; He is a jealous God. 9:3 And know today that Jehovah your God is He who passes over before you as a consuming fire; He will destroy them, and He will bring them down before you; so you shall drive them out and make them to perish quickly, as Jehovah has spoken to you.
2 Sam 22:9 There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, Fire out of his mouth devoured: Coals were kindled by it.
Psa 50:3 Our God comes, and He is not silent; a fire shall devour before Him; and it shall be very stormy around Him.
Isa 30:27 Behold, the name of Jehovah comes from afar; His anger burns; and is heavy as the uplifting of smoke ; His lips are full of fury, and His tongue like a devouring fire.
Jer 17:27 But if you will not listen to me to make the Sabbath day holy, and not to bear a burden and enter in at the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day; then will I kindle a fire in the gates of it, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem, and it shall not be quenched (H3518 kâbâh).
Joel 2:3 A fire devours before them, And behind them, a flame burns. The land is as the garden of Eden before them, And behind them, a desolate wilderness. Yes, and no one has escaped them.
Oba 1:18 And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for straw. And they shall burn among them and consume them. And no survivor shall be to the house of Esau, for Jehovah has spoken.
Naa 3:15 There the fire will devour you. The sword will cut you off. It will devour you like the grasshopper. Multiply like grasshoppers. Multiply like the locust.
Zec 11:1 Open your doors, Lebanon, That the fire may devour your cedars. 12:6 In that day I will make the leaders of Judah like a hearth of fire among the wood, and like a torch of fire among cut grain. And they shall devour all the peoples all around, on the right hand and on the left hand. And Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her place, in Jerusalem.
Zec 11:1 speaks of the future, when the surrounding hostile states attack Israel. The fire will consume these nations around Israel, but Jerusalem is safe.
The consuming fire burns and destroys the people who are affected by it. So, one might ask: is this consuming fire in the lake? Is the consuming fire merely a destructive fire? In the above verses, nothing was mentioned about the fiery lake. The consuming fire is efficient and the subject is quickly destroyed
Then there is another kind of fire of God, which I have referred to as a purifying fire that cleanses and saves.
