What Is Sin?

Such people will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction by being separated from the Lord’s presence and from his glorious power. (2 The 1:9)

1 Jhn 3:4 Every one that practises sin practises also lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness.

Jas 2:10 For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point is guilty of breaking all of it.

Rom 3:20 Because by the works of the law, no flesh will be justified in his sight. For through the law comes the knowledge of sin.

Mat 19:16 Just then a man came up to Jesus and said, Good Teacher, what good deed should I do to have eternal life? 17 Why do you call me good? No one is good but one, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments. – Keep the commandments! Does this mean that believing in Christ alone is not sufficient for salvation?

For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more a sacrifice for sins (Heb 10:26)

– This verse speaks of the believer who slithers back to his former, sinful life, and knowingly sins. The Holy spirit exits him and the consequences can be read in the following verse: 27 but only a terrifying prospect of judgment and a raging fire that will consume the enemies of God  29 How much worse punishment, do you think, will he be judged worthy of, who has trodden underfoot the Son of God, and has counted the blood of the covenant with which he was sanctified an unholy thing, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?

What if a man is a drug user? Or homosexual? Removing such sins may seem impossible. What happens to them? I cannot give a definite answer to that. If you try hard to get rid of sin the effort can be rewarded.

…”love covers a multitude of sins.” says the Bible. (1 Pet 4:8).

2 The 1:7 when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire, 8 He will take revenge on those who do not know God and on those who refuse to obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. 9 Such people will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction by being separated from the Lord’s presence and from his glorious power. Jhn 15:6 If a man doesn’t remain in me, he is thrown out as a branch, and is withered; and they gather them, throw them into the fire, and they are burned.
